Leave a Review

After a successful career as a graphic designer/art director spanning over 20 years, in 2010 Angela embarked upon a new career path in textiles, following her passion to ‘make’. After studying C&G’s Machine Embroidery and Innovative Textiles, she designed and produced a small range of textile art kits whilst working as a sales consultant and demonstrator of sewing machines. Her kits emerged from being invited to design for ‘Stitch’, The Embroiderers’ Guild magazine.

With a love of texture, much of Angela’s early textile work involved layering; a mix of soft-appliquéd fabrics, free-motion embroidery, hand embroidery and quite often paint and dye too. In more recent years patchwork and quilting techniques have dominated her work as she loves the feel of something quilted and is naturally drawn to the geometric patterns of patchwork. In Spring 2016, Angela was invited to test a new innovative quilting foot, the Westalee Ruler Foot, which she was hugely inspired by. Since its launch in the UK that same year, Angela has been a passionate advocate and now proudly, one of only three Westalee Design Accredited Tutors in the UK. Teaching is a big part of Angela’s work life. She has a passion to share her love for stitch and design and enjoys meeting and interacting with like-minded people.

For the past three years she has specialized in teaching the fabulous Westalee Quilting system and offers a range of workshops for all skill levels throughout the UK. Angela launched her first ruler work pattern book in the UK at Festival of Quilts 2018, which has been a great way to reach quilters who’re not able to attend a workshop. Her pattern books are available in Denmark, Australia and thanks to Sew Steady, the USA and Canada. Angela hopes to continue to spread the joy of creative quilting for many more years to come.

  1. I did a weekend residential course with Angie. It was an excellent weekend as Angie was a patient teacher. The lessons were well prepared with a worksheet for each stage. I came away feeling confident I could continue at home. I would love to do another class with her.

  2. I took my very first class with Angie after having the westalee starter set for a year, I have then taken several other classes with her including her jewel quilt class which is something I didn’t think I could do. Angie is so very encouraging, patient and enthusiastic with all her students and her designs are easy to follow .

  3. Angie has a calm way of teaching, inspirational, makes me feel excited and ready to got on and do some ruler work. Her designs and work are beautiful, you can tell she was a graphic designer.
