About The Instructor
Leave a ReviewI started quilting in the early 70’s. My first husbands grandmother whom was a beautiful quilter, got me started. She actually bought my first sewing machine for me on my 19th birthday. It was my most treasured gift. I learned so much from her.
I worked in the hospitality industry in the beautiful city of Nanaimo BC for many years, and as I’m a very social person this was a perfect match. Between working and raising our boys (all 4 played hockey), we had a very busy life, but I don’t think there was ever a time that I wasn’t working on a quilt.
We retired to 100 Mile House in 2007. This is when my quilting took a huge leap forward. I started working at a local quilt shop in 2009 (not ready to retire), and I soon started teaching classes. Every new year I challenge myself to practice and improve different free motion stitches. Free motion quilting and appliqué became my two favorite things. I found an article on line about Westalee rulers, and a couple of friends and I were so intrigued that in 2016 we put in an order (from Australia back then). We were (and still are) hooked. I am now into my 7th year ruler quilting, and I love it more than ever. New Years challenge 2023 was to design my own quilt. Its a work in progress. I have taught a variety of different classes in the last several years, and I hope to continue to do so.
I would love to travel around BC to host in person quilt and ruler work classes.
