About The Instructor
Leave a ReviewI was born in Cornwall, UK and have lived in Bristol since I was 6 months old. I grew up watching people sew and started at a early age. At school I always loved sewing and making things using fabric. My first love has always been quilting but I have worked making luxury underwear and went on to have my own curtain and furnishing business which I manage while having a family. I opened a small shop selling crafts which I ran for 8 yrs and back in 2006 I started teaching dressmaking and tailoring. I really enjoy meeting people and watching them grow and enjoy stitching.
I attended the Festival of Quilts in Birmingham in 2015 and watched Westalee rulers being shown. I had to buy them and never looked back. I am self taught and never had a lesson but have loved every second of using them. I Fell in love with the design process and was lucky enough to be awarded Westalee Design Accredited Teacher in the UK. That was just over a year ago now. I feel very lucky to be able to teach people that they can also make beautiful things and watch them flourish with excitement when they first try. I hope to continue to be able help and teach further students in the years to come.

I have been working on “ the arc quilt” pattern and I have a question about measurements…
If block c is cut 8”x30” and the seams will line up at the junction of g/h and h/g…, are the cutting directions correct? I measure the finished g/h block and h/g block to be 31.5” when joined…..( the g and h blocks were cut at 16”x16” which mean when joined they would total 31.5”!
As a complete novice to ruler quilting I was so lucky to attend a westalee class run by Sue Moore in Newent, Glos. She is extremely knowledgeable in not only westalee rulers but sewing machines as well, there wasn’t a problem that she couldn’t solve. I enjoyed her class so much that I have already booked another class in the autumn. If you get the chance to attend one of her workshops don’t hesitate as places get filled quickly.
I have done quite a few classes with Sue, she is an amazing Westalee teacher who has endless patience and a calm way of teaching. I am currently doing a 6 month (1 day per month) class with her doing the Arc quilt using Templee cut away. Loving every class
