About The Instructor
Leave a ReviewDesigning and sewing things that other people wanted began for me at about nine years old and has continued for over 45 years.
In my first job working in the sewing machine department at Sears, I soon realized sending someone home with a five-minute threading lesson (which was more than most salespeople did!) wasn’t enough to really benefit the customer, so I began teaching “Machine Know-How” classes. From there I moved to the Singer Co. learning sales, machine repair and store management.
Eventually I combined my machine knowledge and management skills and started Stitched Unlimited in Northampton, MA, where I was a Viking and Bernina dealer for over 18 years. My shop continued to grow and expand through programs like my “Machine Know How Club” program, outstanding service department, unlimited machine lessons, and a consultation program for those purchasing a new sewing machine. We became known for giving our clientele exceptional customer service.
This love for creating and passion for teaching naturally evolved into a lifelong learning about sewing machines, innovative techniques and products, and how to help you to do things easier and better.
Since moving to the Cape, I have been sought after as a presenter of my signature Machine Know-How class and have shared my skills and sewing knowledge for many shops, groups and guilds.
My specialty is the breaking down of the process to help you master your machine and the sewing techniques. Patiently I’ll walk you thru a new technique; I’ll approach the process as many ways as it takes until it clicks with my student.
My most asked for a lecture, “My Favorite Tips, Techniques and Products”, has led to my newest addition to my business, an online shop to help you find all those useful and innovative products!
I’m always happy to hear your suggestions, comments and questions that will make our sewing fun, trouble free and productive.
Happy Quilting and don’t forget to “Ask Adele!”
I was a student last fall in a two day workshop with Adele for the Westalee Rulers. I had previously taken a similar class at the Vermont Quilt Festival at which time I didn’t even know what the rulers were all about. This class with Adele was great because I quickly became comfortable with the rulers and learned many new tips and tricks. Adele adds so much information to her class and gives individual attention to anyone who needs it. I loved being able to experiment with a wide range of additional rulers available for students to try. More recently Adele has helped me to purchase the table I needed to add to my machine and recommend new rulers. I look forward to taking another class from her. Interestingly I briefly met Adele many years ago when she sold a small sewing store in my town to a gal who then became my best friend. Another shop owner in the Western Massachusetts is a mutual friend and speaks highly of Adele and her expertise. I have been sewing for nearly seven decades (eww gads)and taught sewing classes as well and I can still learn from Adele.
Want to express my sincere thanks to Adele for her superior knowledge while attending her class at the cape! I’m truly a beginner in Machine Quilting! Her experience with machines and Westlee rulers totally amazed me! I couldn’t have been any happier to attend her class and will love to attend another class in the near future! Adele deserves recognition for her superior excellence in her teaching!
I recently attended a Westalee Ruler workshop run by Adele. She is wonderful. She is extremely knowledgeable about everything related to sewing especially quilting. She is patient and somehow seems to give everyone the attention they need to succeed. I give her an EXCELLENT rating. I plan to attend as many of her classes as I can
Thank you Adele. Your workshops are the best. Everyone gets all the help they need. Your knowledge of all things sewing, is remarkable. Sew gifted!
I attended the first day of a 2 day workshop on Westalee rulers. (I would have done day 2 if my schedule had allowed!) Adele is an extremely knowledgeable and patient teacher. She seems to know EVERYBODY’S machine and works to help solve any technical problem. She always has such helpful insight and specific tips to make your experience successful and pleasant. Her assistants are also helpful and friendly. I heartily
recommend anything Adele teaches. My only frustration is that her schedule and mine rarely coordinate so I jump at the chance to go to her classes when I can!
Wilma Morris, a very satisfied student
I recently took the two day course on the introductory kit of Westalee rulers with Adele. On the second day we also had the opportunity to try a huge assortment of other rulers including feathers, borders, hearts and more. I want to share what a great class it was and how talented and professional Adele Scott is.
Although you can tell when you first meet her that she knows how to use and teach you how to use the rulers, what you may not expect is her wealth of knowledge about all things relating to machine quilting, thread, machines, colors, gadgets, and a whole lot more.
Add to that her excellent presentation skills and attention to all questions from the students and you are getting a great class experience.
I highly recommend taking a class with her and I will be back for more.
Adele has been such an inspiration to me. I have been sewing since I was 10 and have loved it ever since. A few years ago I “found” Adele! Although I was basically a garment and home decorating sewer who once taught sewing in Adult Education classes, I decided it was time to quilt. My younger Sister, who I taught to sew, was a quilter and it would be something we would do together. I began taking lessons from Adele. Her vast knowledge of all kinds of sewing and machine know-how was unlike anything I had experienced before. She has amazing tips and tricks for everything and is mostly heard saying “and I have a tool for that”! I have attended local classes as well as her workshops and have learned so much. My latest adventure is Ruler Work using the Westalee Rulers. They are fun and easy to use – practice makes perfect for sure! Adele has amazing ideas on how and where to use the rulers and how to use them to make your own designs – thinking outside the box!
A great teacher with a wonderful uplifting and inspiring personality. Thanks Adele
