as our March Educator of the Month!
Janet Collins was the very first Westalee Design Accrediated Teacher being mentored by Leonie West, Inventor of Westalee Design Templates.
One of Janet’s greatest pleasures is “to see people succeed“. She has spent her time, energy and creative talents helping numerous students not only on how to quilt using Westalee Design Templates and Rulers but also how to have fun!
Janet owns and operates From The First Stitch To The Last Quilt Shop in Perth, Australia. If you ever had the opportunity to learn from Janet, or take one of her classes you would not easily forget. Janet brings enthusiasm, energy, and excitement to her hands on approach. Spending quality time with each student, encouraging them to “not be afraid” to go outside the lines! Learn, Create, Experiment! These are all the reasons why Sew Steady is honored to recognize Janet, as well as many of her creations through-out the month of March.
Feathered Dreams Quilt Pattern By Janet Collins is perhaps one of her most beautiful, intricate and awe-inspiring Quilts. Janet does an amazing job in using the Westalee Design Feathered Leaf Templates to create this stunning masterpiece.
“I have always had a passion for all things quilty since I started learning nearly 30 years ago. I grew up with a needle in my hand and was always making something. Having been a Primary School Teacher in another life, I bring those skills to my teaching and designing of Patchwork and Quilting. In 2009 whilst working in a Patchwork Shop in Perth WA. I met Leonie and Bill West from Westalee Designs.
The rest as they say is history. Leonie and myself just clicked. I became extremely proficient using Westalee Designs Rulers and Templates.
However, actually quilting my quilts, apart from ditch stitching was my nemesis. Then along came the Westalee Ruler Foot and Templates for domestic sewing machines.
