In April of 2023, we introduced our new Wish 2.0 Table. The next generation of our Wish Table includes the same great size, bevel edge design and drawer features. The circle sewing holes and tool are replaced with the Circles and Straights Tool & Mat which is a superior solution for circle sewing. Offering precise circles from 2″ – 30″ in size and a straight sewing guide at the same time. The new Wish 2.0 also includes a table polish kit to keep fabric flowing. Feel free to learn more here.

Shanna has been sewing most of her life, first learning quilting from her grandmother and friends at quilting bees, and then sewing from her mother, her grandmother, school and 4H. Her skills advanced until she could do tailoring and teach Stretch and Sew classes. Then she learned to do machine embroidery, to digitize designs, and to piece quilts correctly. Her quilting method of choice was quilting in the hoop with her embroidery machine, but when the Westalee quilting rulers appeared at her local quilting store, she was enthralled.
She started teaching ruler quilting classes in 2016 at the quilting store followed by Leonie’s Quilt As You Go series multiple times and most of the project classes available from Sew Steady, Continuum, Janet Collins’ patterns, and a few of her own. She taught a three-day event which included a trunk show, beginning ruler class, and ruler template folder project. She has spoken to quilting guilds and taught at a guild rendezvous.
Shanna is known for her clear, informative instruction during her classes as well as being organized, with a good pace so all can follow along and learn the various tips, tricks and new ideas using Westalee Design Templates & Rules.
Please take a moment to congratulate Shanna below! We would like to thank her for all her enthusiasm, hard-work, and dedication to teaching and sharing her experiences with us. Thank you Shanna!
Why Westalee Design Templates: “Before Westalee Designs, I didn’t quilt; I pieced quilts. Now with Westalee Designs I can quilt beautiful and unique designs on my quilts.” ~ Shanna Rendon
“My fascination with quilting began when I received a Grandmother’s Flower Garden quilt as a wedding present in 1991. The gift of a second scrappy quilt further solidified my love of fabrics and colors. I made my first quilt to celebrate the birth of my first child around 1993. I had loved quilting ever since. I love all styles and types of quilts from art to modern, from traditional pieced to applique. I also love how quilting is a connection through the ages and across generations.
I love sharing my passion for quilting and art, passing on a centuries old tradition, and creating beautiful items of comfort. Let’s start FabriKating your next quilt!” – Kate

Janet Collins was the very first Westalee Design Accrediated Teacher being mentored by Leonie West, Inventor of Westalee Design Templates.
One of Janet’s greatest pleasures is “to see people succeed“. She has spent her time, energy and creative talents helping numerous students not only on how to quilt using Westalee Design Templates and Rulers but also how to have fun!
Janet owns and operates From The First Stitch To The Last Quilt Shop in Perth, Australia. If you ever had the opportunity to learn from Janet, or take one of her classes you would not easily forget. Janet brings enthusiasm, energy, and excitement to her hands on approach. Spending quality time with each student, encouraging them to “not be afraid” to go outside the lines! Learn, Create, Experiment! These are all the reasons why Sew Steady is honored to recognize Janet, as well as many of her creations through-out the month of March.
Feathered Dreams Quilt Pattern By Janet Collins is perhaps one of her most beautiful, intricate and awe-inspiring Quilts. Janet does an amazing job in using the Westalee Design Feathered Leaf Templates to create this stunning masterpiece.
“I have always had a passion for all things quilty since I started learning nearly 30 years ago. I grew up with a needle in my hand and was always making something. Having been a Primary School Teacher in another life, I bring those skills to my teaching and designing of Patchwork and Quilting. In 2009 whilst working in a Patchwork Shop in Perth WA. I met Leonie and Bill West from Westalee Designs.
The rest as they say is history. Leonie and myself just clicked. I became extremely proficient using Westalee Designs Rulers and Templates.
However, actually quilting my quilts, apart from ditch stitching was my nemesis. Then along came the Westalee Ruler Foot and Templates for domestic sewing machines.
Now I LOVE to machine quilt.” ~ Janet

A little history…. The Westalee Design Tecoma Templates got their name from Leonie West, the Inventor. Frequently inspired by the world around her Leonie had the following to say:
“As I was designing the templates I was trying to come up with a name for the them, I was standing on the back deck of my house, looking over the valley and decided that the templates (not the finished designs) looked like clouds or sheep or a mountain range. I live in a beautiful part of the world at the start of the Great Dividing Range, near the top of a mountain, Mt Evelyn, situated near The Dandenong Ranges in Victoria, Australia. Our mountains and ranges are formed from, in and around an extinct 300 million year old volcano.
Surrounded by tall trees, with views over and across hills and valleys where native plants, wildlife and birds abound. Our region of the world is beautiful and peaceful, a great place for inspiration. The name Tecoma comes from a pretty little village close to where I live and all the block names are from local flora or scenic points.” – Leonie West
