ruler foot on a Brother PQ1500SLI ordered this foot to use the rulers and after multiple visits to my sewing machine dealer, still cannot quilt with it. Skips stitches, and after many hours of struggling and trying multiple needles, thread, and speed put it away. I am very disappointed that I could not get this foot to work on my machine. Will go back and try again and if I can get it to work I will update this review. People at Sew Steady were kind, helpful, and very willing to do what was needed to help me. I will purchase from Sew Steady again in the future.
Hello, I am sorry to hear you’ve been having some trouble using your Westalee Design Ruler Foot on your Brother PQ1500SL. I’m not certain what we may have already covered with you, so my apologies of any of my following recommendations seem repetitive. I do have some suggestions: Make sure the bobbin area is clean of any errant threads; Try a slightly thicker thread, as finer weight threads can sometimes be too thin to be caught by the hook; Always use a fresh needle (Topstitch needles can be good for using slightly heavier weight thread, Microtex/Sharp needles can be good for tightly woven fabriks like batiks); Try using an 80/12 needle to prevent flagging; Increasing presser foot pressure can also combat flagging; It’s good to not push the fabric around too fast, rather a slow and steady speed can be best. I hope some of this helps, do keep us posted as you try again, as we’d like to do what we can to help get you quilting with ease. Your Sew Steady Team
